CHICAGO - DePaul plays its final home non-conference game of the regular season on Sunday against Illinois State. Following Sunday’s game, the Blue Demons play their next four games outside Chicago before returning to Rosemont to open BIG EAST play on Dec. 31 against Marquette. The Illinois State game is the lone home game in a six-game run that started with an 81-68 loss at George Washington on Thursday.

Sunday’s game will be televised on FOX Sports 1 with Steve Physioc (play-by-play) and Donny Marshall (analyst) handling the television duties. The broadcast can also be seen on the FOX Sports Go app wherever FOX Sports 1 is available. DePaul stands at 6-2 this season while Illinois State enters the game with a 4-3 record. Head coach Oliver Purnell is in his fifth season at DePaul and his 27th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Illinois State is led by Dan Muller who is in his third season leading the Redbirds. Sunday’s game is the 26th meeting between the two programs.

Following the Illinois State game, DePaul heads west for an extended trip that takes the Blue Demons to Oregon and Hawaii. The trip starts with a Dec. 18 game at Oregon State before the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu from Dec. 22-25. The Oregon State game will be televised on Pac-12 Networks and heard on WIND 560 AM starting at 9 p.m. CT.

Toy Drive at Upcoming Games: The DePaul athletics department is hosting a food drive and a toy drive at upcoming men’s and women’s basketball games.

The toy drive benefits the children of the St. Vincent de Paul Center and began Nov. 29 at University locations in the Loop and Lincoln Park campuses. Gameday drop-off for unused and unopened toys and games is available at the men’s basketball games against Illinois State on Dec. 14.

Blue Demons Drop Tight Road Game at Illinois State
Despite holding Illinois State without a field goal over the final 6:57, the DePaul men's basketball team couldn't knock off the Redbirds in a 69-64 loss on Sunday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Blue Demons.

The Last Meeting: DePaul dropped a 69-64 loss at Illinois State on Dec. 22, 2013... the Blue Demons held Illinois State without a field goal over the final 6:57... DePaul opened up a seven-point advantage early in the second half with a 13-3 run.... a jumper by Billy Garrett Jr. gave DePaul a 47-40 lead just over four minutes into the second half... Illinois State went 11-for-12 from the free throw line down the stretch... Garrett finished 18 points while Brandon Young added 17... Daishon Knight led Illinois State with 16 points and Zach Lofton added 14 off the bench.

Against the Missouri Valley Conference: DePaul is 121-45 all-time against the current membership of the Missouri Valley Conference... the Blue Demons defeated Drake earlier this season and could play Wichita State in two weeks at the Diamond Head Classic... Loyola-Chicago is the most common Valley opponent... DePaul leads series, 38-18.
