CHICAGO - The DePaul Blue Demons conclude the non-conference portion of the 2011-12 schedule Wednesday night against Cal Poly. The Blue Demons currently hold a four-game winning streak and face the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. in Rosemont. DePaul opens the conference schedule against Syracuse on Jan. 1 at Allstate Arena.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men’s basketball program is 1,380-864 (.615) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 559 straight games... The Opponent - Cal Poly Mustangs: Cal Poly enters Wednesday’s game at 8-3... the Mustangs are off to their best start in 10 years... Cal Poly travels to Chicago with a three-game win streak that features wins over San Jose State, Menlo College and Fresno State... David Hanson leads the team with 11.0 points per game while Amaurys Fermin adds a 10.1 scoring average... as a team, the Mustangs are ranked among national leaders by allowing just 53.9 points per game... head coach Joe Callero is in his third season leading the Cal Poly program.

Jeremiah Kelly needs one assist for sole possession of 17th on DePaul’s all-time list... he enters the Cal Poly game tied with Mark Aguirre (1978-81) at 294 assists... with at least 10 points, Cleveland Melvin will register his 30th career game in double-figures... - DePaul’s 8-3 start is the best record through the first 11 games since the 2004-05 season... that team also started with an 8-3 record... the 2011-12 Blue Demons are the third team since 2000 to start the season with an 8-3 record.
- The win was the fourth straight for DePaul... it’s the longest winning streak since the start of the 2008-09 season with four consecutive victories... DePaul’s last five-game winning streak was Dec. 13-29, 2006.
- The Blue Demons finish the McGrath-Phillips Arena portion of the scheduled with a perfect 3-0 record... DePaul is 6-1 all-time at the on-campus facility.

Blue Demons Eyeing One of the Best Starts in 25 Seasons: If DePaul posts a victory Wednesday night over Cal Poly, the 9-3 record would be the best start since the 1999-00 squad that featured four starters that played in the NBA. The 1999-00 edition of DePaul basketball featured Steven Hunter, Quentin Richardson, Bobby Simmons and Paul McPherson and opened the season with an 11-3 record before finishing at 21-12 following a first-round 81-77 overtime time loss to Kansas in the NCAA Tournament.
Since a 16-0 start in 1986-87 that featured current staff member Kevin Edwards as a junior at DePaul, only two teams have opened seasons with at least nine wins in the first 12 games. The 1993-94 team started at 10-2 followed by the 9-3 start for the 1999-00 squad.
Three Decades in Rosemont: DePaul is in its 32nd season in 2011-12 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. The Blue Demons are 308-134 (.697) all-time in Rosemont. DePaul played its first season at the then-named Rosemont Horizon in 1980. The Blue Demons debuted in Rosemont with a 74-56 win over Gonzaga and John Stockton on Dec. 1, 1980.
