CHICAGO - DePaul concludes the non-conference portion of the 2012-13 regular season Saturday afternoon against the Loyola Ramblers. A plethora of streaks and milestones are on the line as the Blue Demons look to continue one of their strongest starts to a season in recent years. Saturday's game is the last of a three-game homestand prior to the Jan. 2 BIG EAST opener against Seton Hall. The Blue Demons and Ramblers are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Rosemont at Allstate Arena. DePaul enters the game with a seven-game winning streak while Loyola has won six of its last seven games.

Saturday's game between DePaul and Loyola can be seen in Chicago on The U Too (WCIU-DT2) with Zach Zaidman (play-by-play) and Jeff Blanzy (analyst) calling all the action. The broadcast will also be available online on ESPN3 and the simulcast can be heard on WSCR 670 The Score. DePaul stands at 9-3 following a 69-61 win against UMBC last Saturday. The Blue Demons hold a seven-game winning streak heading into Saturday while Loyola enters the game with an 8-3 record. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his third season at DePaul and his 25th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Loyola's Porter Moser is in his second season leading the Ramblers.

Following the Loyola game, DePaul opens its eighth season in the BIG EAST Conference with a Jan. 2 game against Seton Hall. The game will be televised on The U Too in Chicago as part of the BIG EAST Network and on the radio at WSCR 670 The Score with Blanzy and Zaidman calling the action courtside. Start time is 8 p.m. at Allstate Arena.

It Could Happen: A win extends DePaul's winning streak to eight games... it would be the longest streak since a nine-game streak from Dec. 7, 1993-Jan. 8, 1994... a win also extends DePaul's streak to 10 straight victories over Chicagoland opponents... a win gives the Blue Demons seven home victories this season which matches the total of the entire 2011-12 season... a win over Loyola on Saturday gives DePaul its first undefeated month of December since the 1986-87 team went 8-0 in December 1986... a win extends DePaul's streak to 12 straight victories over Loyola... a win would be DePaul's 10th during the regular season non-conference schedule... last time DePaul won 10 regular season non-conference games was in the 1999-00 season... a win gives DePaul its best start through 13 games since the 1999-00 team started 10-3... Cleveland Melvin (1,142 pts.) needs six points to pass Andre Brown (2000-04, 33rd place with 1,146 pts.) and Quentin Richardson (1998-00, 32nd place with 1,147 pts.) on DePaul's all-time scoring list... with two blocked shots he moves into a tie for 10th with Wilson Chandler (2005-07, 86 blocks)... Brandon Young is playing in his 75th career game.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men's basketball program is 1,393-883 (.612) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 591 straight games... DePaul's last game without a three was Feb. 16, 1993 against UAB at Allstate Arena... the Blue Demons are 316-142 (.690) all-time at Allstate Arena... DePaul is 7-1 (.875) all-time in games at McGrath-Phillips Arena... the Blue Demons currently hold a nine-game winning streak against Chicagoland programs that includes victories over Chicago State, UIC, Loyola and Northern Illinois... in each of Oliver Purnell's two full seasons at DePaul, the Blue Demons have faced three Chicagoland opponents during the non-conference portion of the schedule with wins in each meeting... in the Purnell era, the Blue Demons are 14-3 when scoring 80 or more points... The Opponent - Loyola Ramblers: Loyola stands at 8-3 entering Saturday's game... after starting the season at 2-2, the Ramblers have won six of their last seven games... Ben Averkamp is the lone player averaging double-figures with a team-high 16.3 points per game... he also leads the club with 6.8 rebounds per game and 15 blocked shots... Devon Turk averages 8.1 points per game with a team-high 22 three-pointers... DePaul is the second BIG EAST opponent for the Ramblers following a 68-50 loss at USF on Nov. 17... head coach Porter Moser is in his second season leading the Loyola program... DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is 2-0 all-time against the Ramblers.

The Series: Saturday is the 56th meeting between the two programs... the Blue Demons lead the series, 38-17, and hold an 11-game winning streak over the Ramblers... in addition to the win streak, DePaul has won 14 of the last 15 and 21 of the last 24 meetings between the two programs.

The Last Meeting: DePaul knocked off Loyola, 69-58, at Gentile Arena on Dec. 7, 2011... the Blue Demons led 47-17 at halftime and by as many as 33 points early in the second half... Loyola outscored DePaul, 41-22, in the second half... Moses Morgan led four in double-figures for DePaul with 13 points.

Against the Horizon League: DePaul is 105-36 all-time against the current lineup of Horizon League programs... DePaul's most common opponent is Loyola... the Blue Demons knocked off Milwaukee, 84-50, on Dec. 9.

Demon Doings: Notes following DePaul's 69-61 win against UMBC on Dec. 22:
- The game was the first meeting between the two programs... DePaul improved to 12-0 all-time against the current America East Conference lineup.
- DePaul extended its win streak to seven straight... it is the longest streak since a nine-game run from Dec. 7, 1993-Jan. 8, 1994.
- The Blue Demons improved to 6-1 at home this season... a year ago, DePaul won seven home games in the entire season.
- Cleveland Melvin reached double-figures for the 26th straight game... playing in his 70th career game Saturday, he has scored at least 10 points in 60 career games... Melvin passed Jim Murphy (1962-65) and moved into 34th place on DePaul's all-time scoring chart.
- Brandon Young's 83rd career three-pointer at end of the first half moved him into a tie for 18th on the three-point field goal list with Quemont Greer (2001-05) and Terry Davis (1989-93).
- Jamee Crockett scored in double-figures for the third time in the last four games.

Fun With Numbers: Cleveland Melvin's streak of 26 straight games in double-figures is tied for third nationally... No. 12 Cleveland Melvin scored 12 points on 12/12/12... a year ago, No. 11 Jeremiah Kelly scored 11 points on 11/11/11 for DePaul... the Blue Demons have made at least one three-pointer in 590 straight games... DePaul's 3-0 start in true road games is the best road beginning since a 5-0 road record to start the 1993-94 season... the three straight road wins mark the longest away streak since a five-game road winning streak in January 2004... including the trip to Cancun for a pair of neutral-site games, the Blue Demons have traveled 10,820 miles during the non-conference portion of the season for games at Cancun, Auburn, Chicago State and Arizona State.
