HILTON HEAD, S.C. - DePaul's Adrian Halimi sits just six shots back of the lead after 36 holes at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday. The Blue Demons are in 11th place while Halimi is tied for 12th after two rounds.
A picture-perfect morning greeted the field as Halimi fired a one-over 73 in his first 18 holes and followed with a four-over 76 in his second round. His first round of 73 ties a career-low and sets a season-low score.
Halimi found himself in a tie for seventh after the first round before the winds began to pick up.
The Blue Demons found themselves in 11th place after their first round score of 307. Despite the increase in winds, DePaul scored its lowest round of the Spring season in the second set of 18 holes with a score of 302.
Freshman Jonathan Hewett was able to match Halimi's first round score with a 73 of his own in Monday's second round. His two-round score of 154 places him in a tie for 37th.
Fellow freshman James Lelliott was the only other DePaul golfer to be placed in the top 40 after both rounds. His scores of 77 and 76 place him in a tie with four other golfers at 32nd.
Senior Moritz Ackerhans and junior Jan Juelicher are in a tie for 57th after each carding two-round scores of 157.
DePaul's score of 609 sits them just one shot back of 10th place Wofford. South Carolina-Aiken leads the 18-team field at the Intercollegiate with a score of 593. Sitting in second place is Charleston Southern who is six shots behind the lead.
Presbyterian's Davis Parker leads the field with a two-round score of 143. After Parker there is a three-way tie for second.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start on the par-72 course.
