USF Invitational Round 1 Results | Live Scoring
DADE CITY, Fla. – The DePaul golf team recorded a season-low round score of 293 in the first round of the USF Invitational on Sunday. The Blue Demons are in a three-way tie 13th place after the first 18 holes.
A gorgeous morning of 80 degrees without wind greeted the field of 17 teams as Jan Juelicher fired a season-low one-under round of 71. His round of three birdies and 13 pars place him in a tie for 25th overall.
Freshman Jonathan Hewett came into the clubhouse just one stroke behind Juelicher with an even-par 72. His eagle on the ninth hole propelled him into a tie for 37th.
Sophomore Adrian Halimi and freshman James Lelliott each finished their day with rounds of 75. Halimi started strong with a birdie and eight pars in the first nine holes before bogeying four of his final nine holes. Lelliott reeled off three birdies in five holes during his final nine holes of play. Both find themselves in a tie for 65th heading into Monday’s second round.
Senior Moritz Ackerhans rounded out the Blue Demons with a four-over 76. Ackerhans currently sits in a tie for 75th after the first day.
DePaul’s score of 293 puts them in a tie for 13th place with Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan. No. 20 Florida State and UNC-Greensboro are tied atop the leaderboard after shooting rounds of 275. No. 37 Memphis is just two shots back at 277 after the first round.
UNC-Greensboro’s Roy Dixon leads the invitational after posting a nine-under 63 in round one. Illinois’s Brian Campbell and Memphis’s Will Pearson are in a tie for second after shooting an eight-under 64.
The second round of the USF Invitational is scheduled for Monday with tee times starting at 8 a.m. (CT) on the par-72 course.
