DADE CITY, Fla. -- The DePaul golf team finished the USF Invitational in 17th place after struggling on the course on Tuesday. The Blue Demons were led by in the final round at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club by John Pavelko and Moritz Hausweiler, who each shot a 79.
Russell Budd was DePaul’s top finisher after combing for a 230 (+14) for the tournament and tied for 58th. The senior pace the Blue Demons with a 75 (+3) in the first round and matched that score in the second round. Budd struggled in the final round and shot 80 (+8) on Tuesday.
After carding a two-under, 70 in the second round on Monday, Adrian Halimi was 13-over in the third round and finished in a tie for 65th. Moritz Ackerhans finished one stroke behind Halimi and tied for 68th.
Pavelko and Hausweiler turned in DePaul’s top two performances in the third round and both recorded a pair of birdies which highlighted the day.
DePaul combined to score 928 for the tournament.
North Carolina State won the team title with a combined score of 860. Albin Choi from NC State claimed the individual honors and was eight under for the tournament.
DePaul returns to the course on March 25 at the Memphis Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament will be played at the Colonial Country Club.
