Westley Finishes in Top 25 at Spring Break Championship

LAKE WORTH, Fla. – DePaul’s Ben Westley shot a one-over 72 in the third round to finish in a tie for 24th at the Spring Break Championship. The senior played at even par over his last two rounds and finished the tournament with a four-over score of 217.
Westley’s tournament total of 217 is his best 54-hole score this season. Previously, the senior combined to register a score of 221 at the Adams Cup of Newport at the start of the 2011-12 season. He opened the Spring Break Championship with a 75 before carding rounds of 70 and 72.
Russell Budd finished in a tie for 69th place after finishing his tournament with a 77 on Sunday. Budd finished just ahead of Moritz Ackerhans in a group in 75th place. Budd recorded a tournament total of 228 (+15) while Ackerhans shot a 73 in the third round for a three-day score of 229 (+16).
Jan Juelicher, Alex Lloyd and Brad Stephens rounded out the action for the Blue Demons on Sunday with Stephens also finishing in a tie for 69th. He played as an individual this weekend and shot a season-best 73 in the third round. Juelicher finished with an 84 on Sunday in 78th place while Lloyd shot an 81 and placed 86th.
Florida State won the team title with the top three individual finishers. The Seminoles finished 19 shots ahead of second-place Northern Illinois with a 23-under total of 829. Brooks Koepka won medalist honors with a 14-under tournament score of 199.
Up next for the Blue Demons is the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State. The three-round, two-day tournament takes place April 2-3 in Jonesboro, Ark.
