Budd Tied for Sixth After First Round at the FAU Spring Break Championship

LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- Led by Russell Budd's one-under 71, the DePaul men's golf team stands in a tie for eighth place at the FAU Spring Break Championship on Friday. Budd sits in sixth place after the first round at the Fountains Country Club.
The Blue Demons combined for 13 birdies on the day, while Budd paced the team with five. Budd was one under after shooting a 34 on the back nine and was even on the front nine.
Freshman Adrian Halimi sits in a 10-way tie for 18th place after carding a two-over 73 for the round. Moritz Hausweiler and Jan Juelicher are in a group tied for 53rd and carded a 77 on Friday. Moritz Ackerhans was seven-over and is in a tie for 67th.
DePaul combined for a 297 in the first round is tied for eighth place with Bethune-Cookman. The Blue Demons are 12 shots off the lead from Hartford (285) who lead the 18-team field.
Evan Russell from Hartford is the tournament's leader and carded 68 (-3).
Ackerhans is in a group that tees off at 8:30 on the 10th hole, while Budd is the final Blue Demon to begin Saturday's second round. Budd begins his day at 9:06 and is paired with Austin Kelly (Miami), who is tied for second place and Ryan Fricker (Bethune-Cookman), who is tied for seventh place.
