Hawkeye Invitational Final Results Get Acrobat Reader

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The DePaul golf team contended with fog, rain and wind but managed to conclude its regular season at the Hawkeye Invitational on Sunday. Playing at Finkbine Golf Course, the Blue Demons took 11th, while freshman Jonathan Hewett tied for 20th.
 
Hewett began the day in a tie for 35th but used an even-par 72 to rise in the standings. He nailed a team-high five birdies to round out his tournament with 11 birdies – also a team-high.
 
Senior Moritz Ackerhans joined Hewett in the top-50 after he shot a five-over 77 in his final circuit of the par-72 course. Ackerhans ended in a tie for 42nd and finished in the top-50 for the ninth time this season.
 
Junior Jan Juelicher, sophomore Adrian Halimi and freshman James Lelliott all came into the clubhouse tied for 56th.
 
Juelicher started the day with a double-bogey, but recovered nicely birdieing two and parring 10 over his final 17 holes and shot a five-over 77.
 
Coming off of his best round of the tournament, Halimi struggled with the elements and shot a 10-over 82 to wrap-up his tournament.
 
Lelliott matched his second round score when his third trip through the course ended with a four-over 76.
 
Senior Mark Sanchez, competing as an individual, held his position in the standings after a round of 89.
 
DePaul took 11th as a team after it shot a 302 in Sunday’s final 18. No. 46 Iowa pulled away from the field and took the team title after it shot a 285. No. 50 Iowa State placed second after it shot a round-best 284.
 
Iowa’s Steven Ihm won the individual crown, going seven-under for the tournament. Iowa State’s Scott Fernandez finished just two shots back of his in-state rival.
 
The Blue Demons now shift their focus to the BIG EAST Championship. The three-day tournament takes place at Callawassie Country Club in Okatie, S.C., April 27-29.
