IOWA CITY, Iowa – Charlie Spencer-White is tied for 12th after the first round to lead the DePaul golf team on the opening day of the Hawkeye Invitational. The event concludes on Saturday with two rounds scheduled for Finkbine Golf Course.

Spencer-White fired a one-under 71 over the first circuit in Iowa City to record his second sub-par round of the season. He also recorded a 70 in the second round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational in October.

Joe McCarthy follows Spencer-White in a group in 30th place and Freddy Thomas is tied for 63rd. McCarthy posted a 74 (+2) on Friday while Thomas carded a 79 (+7). Kyle Vincze’s score of 80 (+8) puts him in a tie for 66th and Garret Buckley rounded out the DePaul contingent with an 84 (+12) in the first round.

Kansas State’s Jeremy Gandon shot a 66 (-6) to take the top spot on the individual leaderboard while Iowa State is atop the team standings with a first-round score of 280 (-8). The Blue Demons are 13th following a team total of 304 (+16) on Friday.

Saturday’s second round is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start with the third round set to follow on Saturday afternoon. Live scoring is available at GolfStat.com.
