IOWA CITY, Iowa – Wind and rain with temperatures in the 30’s shortened the Hawkeye Invitational to 36 holes as Charlie Spencer-White led the Blue Demons in the difficult playing conditions. Spencer-White finished in a tie for 26th place over the two rounds.

Spencer-White posted an 80 (+8) for a two-day total of 151 (+7) to finish in a group in 26th place. It marked his best finish of the season. Joe McCarthy followed Spencer-White with a two-round score of 153 (+9) following a 79 (+7) on Saturday. McCarthy finished in a tie for 35th place.

Kyle Vincze was tied for 68th, Freddy Thomas finished in a tie for 70th and Garret Buckley was tied for 72nd for the Blue Demons. Vincze shot an 83 (+11) in his second round for a tournament total of 163 (+19) with Thomas at 164 (+20) following an 85 (+13) on Saturday. Buckley shot an 81 (+9) for a 36-hole total of 165 (+21).

Kansas State’s Jeremy Gandon won medalists honors with a tournament score of 136 (-8) while Iowa State won the team title with a score of 583 (+7). The Blue Demons finished 13th with a team total of 627 (+51).

The Blue Demons are off until returning to Callawassie Island Club for the BIG EAST Championship. The annual conference event is scheduled for three rounds over three days from April 29-May 1.
