Day One at Hawkeye Invitational Shortened by Weather

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Competitors made it into the second round on Saturday at the Hawkeye Invitational before weather and darkness halted play. When the second round resumes Sunday morning, the Blue Demons will be on the back nine at Finkbine GC before playing the third round to complete the tournament.

Through one completed round, DePaul is in 13th place with James Lelliott leading the way. Lelliott is tied for 50th through 18 holes following a 76 (+4). He is followed by Jonathan Hewett in a group in 59th after a 77 and Jonathan Goldstein is tied for 69th after he recorded a 78.

Freddy Thomas is one shot behind Goldstein at 79 (+7) and is tied for 73rd and Charlie Spencer-White’s 84 places him in a tie for 79th place.

With play halted midway through the second round, Hewett’s two-under score through 11 holes has moved him up to a tie for 35th place. Thomas and Goldstein also completed 11 holes with Thomas at one-under and Goldstein at two-over in the halted second round. Spencer-White is even after eight holes and Lelliott is one-over through 12 holes.

The second round resumes at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday immediately followed by the third round. Texas Tech held a one-shot lead over Kansas through 18 holes and the Red Raiders have extended their advantage to three shots with a team score that is at nine-under.
