Adams Cup of Newport - 1st and 2nd Round Results 
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – DePaul sits in a tie for 10th after two rounds at the Adams Cup of Newport that opened the 2011-12 season on Monday. The Blue Demons were tied for third after the morning 18 holes before finishing in a 10th-place tie after 36 holes.
Ben Westley fired the best round of the day for DePaul with a 69 in the second round. He currently sits in a five-way tie for eighth on the individual leaderboard with a one-under tournament total of 143. Westley started the tournament with a 74 in the first round. The second-round score marked the first sub-70 score of Westley’s career bettering his previous 18-hole best of 70 set on two occasions during the 2009-10 season.
Westley was followed by Russell Budd and Moritz Ackerhans as Budd is tied for 31st and Ackerhans is in a group in 36th place. Budd posted rounds of 72 and 76 for a two-round total of 148 (+4) while Ackerhans fired a 70 in the first round before carding a 79 on his second circuit. Ackerhans is one stroke behind Budd with a five-over total of 149.
Jan Juelicher is tied for 71st and Erik Peterson is tied for 85th to round of the first day of action for DePaul. Juelicher registered scores of 75 and 81 while Peterson totaled 79 and 81.
Georgia leads the team leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 564 (-12) and lead by three strokes ahead of second-place UCF at 567 (-9). Bryden Macpherson from Georgia and Ricardo Gouveia of UCF are tied for the individual lead with scores of 138 (-6) after two rounds.
Monday’s 36 holes were played at Newport National GC in Middletown and the final 18 holes move to Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth on Tuesday.
