LEMONT, Ill. - DePaul’s Moritz Ackerhans sits just two shots back of the lead after two rounds of the John Dallio Memorial. The Blue Demons are in fourth place as a team in their annual tournament at Ruffled Feathers GC while Ackerhans is tied for seventh after 36 holes.
A picture-perfect morning greeted the field as Ackerhans fired a three-under 69 over his first 18 holes. The senior reeled off five straight birdies en route to the second-best round of the day. Only Green Bay’s Dan Ozga posted a better round with a 68 in his first circuit of Ruffled Feathers on Saturday morning. Ackerhans carded a 79 in the second round to finish in a tie for seventh with Ozga as both players sit at four-over par heading into Sunday’s final round.
The Blue Demons found themselves in second place on the team leaderboard after the first round. Saturday’s afternoon round saw winds pick up and scores for the entire field increase. After five teams combined to go under 300 in the first round, the lowest team score of the second round was 302 by IUPUI.
Jonathan Hewett finished in a tie for 12th place with rounds of 73 and 78 while Adrian Halimi is in a group in 26th place following his scores of 74 and 82. James Lelliot and Alex Lloyd are in a group in 30th place after two rounds after both players carded rounds of 78 and 79.
Missouri State holds a three-shot lead after Saturday’s play with a team score of 597 (+21). The Bears are ahead of IUPUI (600) and Green Bay sits in third place at 608 (+32). The Blue Demons (609) are just a shot behind the Phoenix and Northern Iowa (612) rounds out the top five.
Dalton Charboneau from SIU-Edwardsville and Valparaiso's Joe Harris share the individual lead with a two-over total of 146. Ackerhans is just two shots back and eight players are at four-over or better heading into the final 18 holes.
Sunday’s third round is scheduled to start with 7:30 a.m. tee times on the first and 10th holes at Ruffled Feathers GC.
