Ackerhans Leads DePaul to Third Place Finish at Dallio Memorial

LEMONT, Ill. – The DePaul golf team wrapped up the 10th Annual John Dallio Memorial on Sunday at Ruffled Feathers. The Blue Demons combined for the lowest round of the day to secure third place and were led by senior Moritz Ackerhans, who finished in second place.

Ackerhans started Sunday tied for seventh after 36-holes of action. After shooting a 73 (+1) in the final round which saw the Kiel, Germany native jump five spots in the standings to second. He finished the tournament shooting a 69 (-3), 79 (+7) and 73 (+1).

IUPUI’s Santiago Ruiz took home the individual crown after shooting 218 (+2) for the tournament.

With Ruiz leading the way, IUPUI brought home the team title, defeating Missouri State by two strokes. DePaul finished third and ended seven strokes behind IUPUI.

The Blue Demons started the day in fourth place, and combined for a 294 (+6) and were able to jump the Phoenix to finish third overall.  Green Bay fell to sixth in the standings after shooting a 315 (+27).

DePaul combined for a 903 for the tournament, while IUPUI finished at 896. Missouri State was second at 898.

DePaul ‘s James Lelliot finished with the low score of the day for the Blue Demons.  The freshman carded a 69 (-3) matching Ackerhan’s low score on Saturday.  Lelliot was one of three DePaul players to finish in the top 15 as the Worthing, England native captured 10th place. Jonathan Hewett, who carded a 76 on Sunday, placed 13th.

Adrian Halimi took 26th place and Alex Lloyd finished in a tie for 30th.

Playing as individuals, Paul Tardella tied for 37th, Jan Juelicher finished in 42nd, and Jonathan Goldstein was in a group in 47th.  Mark Sanchez rounded out DePaul’s contingent in 61st.

The Blue Demons return to the links, Oct. 6-8 when they travel to Erin Hills, Wis. for the Erin Hills Intercollegiate. The tournament is being hosted by Marquette.
