Ben Westley Leads DePaul at Weibring Intercollegiate

NORMAL, Ill. - Junior Ben Westley registered his second straight top 15 finish to lead DePaul this weekend at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. The Blue Demons finished 17th as the tournament completed its second round of action on Sunday morning and the third round Sunday afternoon after play was suspended Saturday evening due to darkness.
After opening the tournament with a 79, Westley came back with a 72 (+1) in the second round and a 74 in the third round for a tournament total of 225 (+12). He finished in a tie for 13th with Brett Nymeyer of Nebraska.
Westley was followed by Charles Boucher, Maximilian Mayer, Russell Budd and Brad Stephens. Boucher fired two rounds of 76 on Sunday following an 86 on Saturday for a three-round total of 238 to finish in a group in 60th place. Mayer finished in a tie for 81st at 246 and Budd was in a tie for 84th with a tournament score of 247. Stephens finished the Weibring Invitational in 90th place with a score of 251.
Illinois won the team title with the top three individuals on the leaderboard. Chris DeForest earned medalist honors with a tournament-best score of 216 (+3). Following the Illini and their score of 875 was Iowa State (903) and Nebraska (909). DePaul finished 17th with a team total of 954.
The Blue Demons are off until Oct. 18-19 for the Georgetown Intercollegiate in Beallsville, Md. Following the Georgetown Intercollegiate, the fall portion of the 2010-11 schedule concludes at the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley, Calif., on Oct. 25-26.
