ERIN, Wis. – Despite high winds, DePaul’s Moritz Ackerhans sits just four shots off the lead after the second round of the Erin Hills Intercollegiate on Monday.  The Blue Demons sit in 13th place as a team while Ackerhans is tied for 11th after 36 holes.

Ackerhans fought through windy conditions to stay at par for the tournament.  The Blue Demon senior is one of three players tied for 11th while the group is four shots behind the tournament co-leaders -- Bryson Dechambeau (SMU) and Patrick Rodgers (Stanford).

Excelling on the courses’ back nine, Ackerhans has combined for four birdies thru two rounds on holes 10-18.  On Monday, the Keil Germany native birdied holes 14 and 17 while bogies on four and eight left Ackerhans par for the round.

Freshman Jonathan Hewett carded a 76 which was a stroke better than his opening round on Sunday.  The freshman moved into a six-way tie for 54th and has combined for five birdies during the tournament.

Fellow freshman James Lelliott came in at seven-over for a 79 and is tied 64th. Other Blue Demon golfers -- Adrian Halimi and Alex Lloyd -- brought in rounds of 82 and 85, respectively.

No. 10/7 Stanford holds a nine-shot lead after Monday’s play and boasts a team score of 565 (-11). SMU has moved into second place and have a total team score of 576 (E). DePaul combined for a 309 during Monday’s second round and has a combined score of 616 for 13th place.  The Blue Demons are six strokes in front of Northern Illinois, who is in 14th place.

Tuesday’s final round is scheduled to start with 8:30 a.m. with groups starting on the first and 10th holes.
