Boucher, Westley Lead Blue Demons

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Charles Boucher and Ben Westley finished in a group in 25th place to lead DePaul at the Bill Cullum Invitational's final round Tuesday. DePaul moved up a spot to finish the tournament in 10th place. Boucher fired a 73 while Westley shot a 76 in the final round of action at Wood Ranch Golf Club on Tuesday. Each player finished the tournament with a six-over score of 222 to finish in a group with three other players in 25th place. Maximilian Mayer turned in a solid round as well on Tuesday with a 73 to move up the leaderboard to 38th place. Mayer opened the tournament with a 78 and 75 for a combined score of 226 (+10). Mayer was followed by Russell Budd and Erik Peterson. Budd totaled 228 (+12) with rounds of 74 and 78 on Monday followed by a 76 over the final 18 holes while Peterson shot an 88 in the third round after carding consecutive scores of 85 on Monday. UC Riverside won the team title by two strokes over San Jose State with a team score of 871 (+7). The Blue Demons finished in 10th place with a score of 898 behind Cal State Fullerton and Utah State that finished in a tie for eighth place. Nick Delio of host Cal State Northridge won the individual title with a 67 in the third round to finish the tournament with an eight-under score of 208. The Bill Cullum Invitational served as the final event for the Blue Demons of the fall portion of the season. DePaul returns to action on Feb. 11-12 at The Match Play in Tampa, Fla. The Match Play features the BIG EAST golf programs in head-to-head competition at TPC Tampa Bay.
