Golf Opens Spring Campaign in San Antonio



CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s golf team opens its 2007 spring season this week at the 12th annual University of Texas at San Antonio Intercollegiate.  The two-day, 54 hole tournament runs Monday and Tuesday at the Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.

 

The Blue Demons join a field of 16 teams for an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday.  In addition to host UTSA, DePaul tees off with Air Force, Arkansas State, Baylor, Illinois State, Louisiana-Monroe, Marshall, McNeese State, Miami (Ohio), New Orleans, Northern Iowa, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, and Texas-Pan American.

 

The Oak Hills Country Club is a par 71 course measuring 6,691 yards.

 

DePaul finished 15th overall at the 2006 UTSA Intercollegiate, where Baylor claimed the team title.

 

Throughout the fall portion of the 2006-07 campaign, the Blue Demons were paced by sophomore Collin Piercy’s 73.6 stroke average.  Freshman Greg Doherty followed with 74.1 strokes per round and junior Matthew McMahon held a 74.6 stroke average.
