SAN ANTONIO – The DePaul men’s golf team holds a tie for fifth place after day one of the Texas-San Antonio Intercollegiate. The Blue Demons carded a team score of 597 through the Monday’s first two rounds at the Oak Hill Country Club and enter Tuesday’s final 18 holes locked even with Texas Pan American.
Junior Will Cumberland leads DePaul after posting scores of 76 and 72. He shares a four-way tie for 15th place in the individual standings and rests six shots over par. Freshman Greg Doherty trails his teammate by one stroke and is tied with nine other golfers in 18th place after shooting a 77 and a 72.
New Orleans and Louisiana-Monroe are tied for first place after each team recorded a score of 588. The top spot of the individual standings is split between Robert Gwin of Sam Houston State and Simon Merry of Texas-San Antonio. Both golfers carded scores of 140 through 36 holes.
