Golf Enters Final Round of Ron Smith/USF Invitational
DADE CITY, Fla. Junior Cory Blenkush shot par on Saturday as the DePaul men’s golf team closed out round two of the Ron Smith/USF Invitational. The Blue Demons share a tie for eighth place in the team standings entering Sunday’s final 18 holes at Lake Jovita Country Club. Three birdies and an eagle kept Blenkush on pace for a par round of 72. The Blue Demon junior sits three shots over par as he holds a tie for 28th place with a two-day total of 147. Senior Will Cumberland recorded four birdies on Saturday on his way to a round of 73. Cumberland leads DePaul in the individual standings as his 36-hole score of 146 shares a tie for 23rd place. Three Blue Demons enter Sunday’s final round in a tie for 41st place as senior Matthew McMahon, junior Nick Martin and sophomore Greg Doherty all carry two-round totals of 149. Martin carded a round of 73 on Saturday, while McMahon posted a 74 and Doherty shot a 76. Julian Colmenares of Jacksonville State tops the individual standings with a score of 137. Middle Tennessee State continues to pull away from the field with a nine-under-par team score of 567. DePaul shares eighth place with Florida Southern and Troy as each team holds a score of 588. The Blue Demons sit one shot behind BIG EAST rival South Florida and three shots behind Marquette. The Ron Smith/USF Invitational concludes on Sunday with a final 18 holes.
