Golf in 15th Place After Day Two of Ron Smith/USF Invitational



First and Second Round Results

TAMPA, Fla. – Junior Matthew McMahon sits in a tie for 12th place as the DePaul men’s golf team concluded day two of the Ron Smith/USF Invitational on Saturday.  The Blue Demons hold 15th place in the team standings entering Sunday’s final round at the Lake Jovita Country Club.

 

McMahon shot a three-over-par 75 during Saturday’s 18 holes, bringing his two-day total to 147.  He trails field-leader Jose Toledo of New Orleans by seven strokes. 

 

Freshman Greg Doherty is tied for 61st and holds the second spot for the Blue Demons.  He carded a second round of 77, bringing his 36 hole total to 155.

 

Junior Will Cumberland and sophomore Cory Blenkush both carry a two-round total of 159 and share a tie for 72nd.  Saturday’s round saw Blenkush shoot an 80, while Cumberland followed with an 82.

 

The Blue Demons registered a team score of 616 over the first 36 holes and trail BIG EAST rival South Florida by two strokes.  Middle Tennessee State leads the field of 17 teams with a score of 580.

 

Sunday’s final round of 18 holes tees off at 7 a.m. (CST).
