DePaul Finishes 17th at USF Invitational
DADE CITY, Fla. - A team total of 306 in the third and final round dropped DePaul into a tie for 17th at the USF Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf Club. Ben Westley was the top individual finisher in a group at 50th place while Michael Furci was tied for 55th. Westley shot a 75 on Sunday and finished the tournament with a seven-over 223. He carded a 76 on Friday before leading DePaul with a 72 on Saturday. His 75 in the third round was the top round of the day for the Blue Demons on Sunday. Westley was DePaul's top finisher for the second time in as many tournaments this Spring. Furci posted rounds of 72 and 74 before a 78 in his final 18 holes on Sunday. He was followed by Greg Doherty in a group in 77th and Charles Boucher in a tie for 96th. Doherty carded rounds of 72, 79 and 76 while Boucher fired two rounds of 77 after starting the tournament with a 78 on Friday. Russell Budd finished the tournament with an 81 in the third round for a three-day total of 234 while Erik Peterson, playing as an individual, also shot a team-best 75 on Sunday. Peterson opened the tournament with an 80 on Friday followed by a 78 on Saturday. Florida Southern claimed the team title with a total score of 852 (-12). The Blue Demons finished with a three-round score of 900 (+36) to finish in a tie with Austin Peay for 17th. Florida Southern's Matt Stauch earned medalist honors with a three-day score of 204 (-12). The Blue Demons return to the course on Monday, Mar. 22 at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate. The three-round, two-day tournament is at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
