Golf Team Completes First Round at Winthrop-Waterford Invitational
ROCK HILL, S.C. – The DePaul men’s golf team completed the first round of play on Monday at the Winthrop-Waterford Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. The Blue Demons are one of 19 teams competing in the 36-hole event.
Nathan Ruth produced DePaul’s best finish in the first round with a 77 (36-41) that placed him in a group of 10 players at 40th place. Josh Scarbrough was tied for 58th after opening with a 79 (37-42). Kyle Patterson was tied for 62nd and Ryan Jamison is in a group at 75th. Patterson carded an 80 (41-39) while Jamison posted an 82 (41-41). Scott Yopchick rounded out the scoring for DePaul with a first-round 89 (42-47).
As a team, the Blue Demons are tied for 15th with Connecticut. DePaul shot a combined 318 in the first round. Charleston Southern leads with a 285 and is followed by Mercer University with a 289. Individually, three players shot an opening-round 70. The group includes Paul Reed of Charleston Southern, Kyle Christman of Winthrop and Chris Clark from Radford.
