Golf Heads to Arizona for Ron Moore Invitational

CHICAGO – The DePaul golf team continues its 2007 spring campaign this week at the Ron Moore Invitational in Goodyear, Arizona.  The three-round tournament, hosted by Denver, runs Monday and Tuesday at the Palm Valley Golf Club.

The Blue Demons join 16 teams for 54 holes on Monday and a final 18 holes on Tuesday.  DePaul tees off with Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Denver, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Princeton, Southern Utah, Texas-San Antonio, Utah, Weber State, Wichita State and Wyoming.

Both days of competition begin at 10 a.m. (CST).  The Palm Valley Golf Club features a par 72 course measuring 7,015 yards.

DePaul did not compete at last year’s Ron Moore Invitational where BIG EAST rival Louisville won the team title with a combined score of 836.  James Love of Denver took the individual crown with a 54-hole score of 199.

Junior Matthew McMahon and freshman Greg Doherty both average 74.7 strokes per round entering this week’s tournament.  McMahon led the Blue Demons earlier this month at the Ron Smith/USF Invitational where he finished seventh with a three-round score of 217.
