Blue Demons Ninth After Two Rounds at Cal Poly Invitational
ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. Led by a two-round total of 149 for Cory Blenkush, the DePaul golf team is in ninth place after two rounds at the Cal Poly Invitational. Charles Boucher, playing as an individual, is also in the group at 13th place with Friday’s third and final round remaining at the par-72 Cypress Ridge Golf Course. Blenkush shot a 75 in the first round before firing a 74 in round two to finish in tied for 13th at five-over par. Greg Doherty (75-78) and Michael Furci (76-77) are tied for 30th at 153 while Ben Westley in tied for 35th after shooting a 74 and 81 for a two-round total of 155. Nick Martin rounds out the team scoring for DePaul in a group at 52nd with rounds of 78 and 83 (161). Individually, Boucher is in the 13th-place tie with total of 149 (74-75) over the first two rounds. Paul Watt is in the group at 52nd with a 161 (78-83). Host Cal Poly leads the team standings with a two-round team score of 579. The Mustangs are followed by British Columbia and Sacramento State at 593. DePaul’s total of 610 puts them in ninth place, but the Blue Demons are just eight strokes behind fourth-place Utah State. Sacramento State’s Scott DeBorba is in the individual lead at 137 (-7). Friday’s final 18 holes begin at 7:30 a.m. PT with split times ending at 9:30 a.m.
