CHICAGO – The DePaul golf team begins the homestretch of season when it travels to Lake Worth, Fla. to compete in the FAU Spring Break, Mar. 28-30. The three-round tournament is slated for 18-holes each day at the Fountains Country Club, with the Blue Demons being one of 14 teams to participate.
Joining DePaul on the links includes last year’s tournament champions, No. 6 UCF, Bethune-Cookman, Connecticut, Florida Atlantic (hosts), Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, Hartford, Jacksonville State, Lafayette, Middle Tennessee State, Morehead State, Murray State and Stetson.
Competing for the Blue Demons are Moritz Ackerhans, Adrian Halimi, Jonathan Hewett, Jan Juelicher, James Lelliott and Jonathan Goldstein, who is scheduled to compete as an individual.
In last year’s FAU Spring Break Championship, DePaul took home 10th place, earning the Blue Demons their third top-10 finish of the season. Halimi paced the team with his ninth-place finish after shooting three-over for the tournament. Ackerhans tied for 53rd and Juelicher finished just one stroke behind, finishing in a tie for 56th.
DePaul is coming off its lowest score of the season when it scorched an 874 at the USF Invitational, three weeks ago. Hewett, Juelicher and Lelliott all set season-low tournament scores with Hewett earning his team-high, fourth top-25 finish of the season.
Following its three-day circuit of the par-71 course, the Blue Demons travel to RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark. for the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate. This two-day, 54-hole event is scheduled for Apr. 7-8.
