Golf in Fifth Place After Day One of Cuesta Title Intercollegiate



First and Second Round Results

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The DePaul golf team sits in fifth place after day one of Cal Poly's Cuesta Title Intercollegiate.  The Blue Demons recorded a combined score of 590 through Thursday’s first two rounds at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course.

 

Freshman Greg Doherty leads the Blue Demons into Friday’s final round after carding scores of 73 and 69 for a two-round total of 142.  He rests two shots off the lead and holds a tie for fourth place with Chris Kirk of Cal Poly.

 

Junior Will Cumberland and sophomore Nick Martin are part of a six-way tie for 36th in the individual standings after each recorded a score of 150 through two rounds.  Junior Matthew McMahon follows one stroke behind in a tie for 42nd and sophomore Collin Piercy carded a 153 for a share of 53rd.

 

Cal Poly’s Geoff Gonzales leads all individuals with a 36-hole total of 140, while his squad tops the team standings with a combined score of 575.

 

Friday’s final round of 18 holes tees off at 9:30 a.m. (CST).
