Golf Places Fifth at Marshall Invitational
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. DePaul’s Greg Doherty fired a four-over 75 and shot a three round total of 218 (+5) to finish in a tie for ninth place at the Marshall Invitational at the Guyan Golf & Country Club today. Illinois won the team title and shot a three round total of 855, while the Blue Demons placed fifth with a three-round total of 882.
Doherty, who entered Sunday’s play in a tie for fourth, slid into ninth with a four-over 75 today. The junior’s final round followed rounds of 74 and team-best two-under 69 on Friday. Nick Martin and Ben Westley both carded three-round totals of 221 to tie for 25th. Martin’s 74 followed rounds of 74 and 73 on Friday. Westly fired a 77 today; while his round of 71 on Friday was the second lowest score carded by a Blue Demon.
Charles Boucher was 41st with rounds of 76, 77 and 72 for a 225 while Cory Blenkush finished in 48th with a tournament total of 227 (75-75-77).
Illinois’ Zach Barlow took home medalist honors and recorded a three-round total of 211 (-2).
The Blue Demons head to the adidas Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., April 11-12.
