Golf Finishes Second at Beu/Mussatto Invitational



Final Results

 

MACOMB, Ill. – The DePaul golf team battled two days of winter-like conditions to finish second out of 18 teams at the Western Illinois Beu/Mussatto Invitational.  Freshman Greg Doherty led the Blue Demons through Friday and Saturday’s action at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course with a two-round score of 152.

 

Doherty carded two identical rounds of 76 to place second out of 93 individuals.  He finished six shots behind tournament-winner Eric Johnson of North Dakota State.  Doherty has now paced the Blue Demons in both of their last two tournaments.

 

Junior Matthew McMahon posted a two-round score of 157 to finish in a four-way tie for 10th place, while sophomore Cory Blenkush carded a total of 163 and tied three other golfers for 25th.  Junior Will Cumberland followed with a 36-hole score of 164 and a four-way tie for 29th.  Sophomore Nick Martin tied four other golfers for 48th with a total of 168.

 

DePaul posted a combined score of 630 and finished seven strokes behind tournament host and champion Western Illinois.

 

The Blue Demons return to action April 16-17 at the Wiscon Corporation Invitational in Mundelein, Illinois.
