Doherty Leads DePaul Through Two Rounds at Red Wolf Classic
JONESBORO, Ark. - Greg Doherty fired a 69 in the second round on Monday afternoon to lead DePaul on the first day of the Red Wolf Classic. The senior sits in a tie for 60th heading in to the final 18 holes on Tuesday at RidgePointe CC in Jonesboro. Doherty shot a three-under 69 in the second round after starting the tournament with a nine-over score of 81. His afternoon 18 holes featured a six-hole stretch that saw him post four birdies. Doherty's two-round total of 150 (+6) puts him in a group of six players in 60th place. The 69 is Doherty's best round of the Spring season and his second sub-70 round this season. He shot a 68 in the first round of the John Dallio Memorial on Sept. 27. He was followed by Charles Boucher, Russell Budd and Mike Tuel. Boucher is tied for 80th following rounds of 76 and 78 while Budd and Tuel are in a group in 84th place. Budd shot a 78 and a 77 while Tuel posted scores of 75 and 80 on Monday. Erik Peterson is tied for 95th with scores of 80 and 77 while John Pavelko, playing as an individual, sits in 100th place after shooting an 85 and a 78 in the first two rounds. The Blue Demons have their work cut out for them on Tuesday as they sit in 18th place heading into the final 18 holes. DePaul combined for a 301 in the second round after opening the tournament with a team total of 309. Central Arkansas leads the team leaderboard at 565 while Sebastian Gunnarsson from Arkansas-Little Rock holds the individual lead with a two-round total of (-8).
