Golf in Fifth Place After Day One of BIG EAST Championship

2007 BIG EAST Championship Central

 

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The DePaul golf team sits in fifth place following round one of the 2007 BIG EAST Championship.  Freshman Greg Doherty rests four shots off the lead entering Monday’s second round at the Cardinal Club.

 

Doherty carded a two-under-par score of 70 during Sunday’s 18 holes and shares fourth place with Keegan Bradley of St. John’s.  Sophomore Cory Blenkush follows in a five-way tie for sixth place after shooting a 71.

 

Junior Matthew McMahon and sophomore Nick Martin are part of an 11-way tie for 28th place after each Blue Demon posted a score of 76.  Junior Will Cumberland carded a 79 and is tied with two other golfers for 48th place.

 

DePaul posted a combined score of 293 while Louisville leads the team standings with a total of 283.  The Blue Demons trail fourth-place Notre Dame by two strokes and third-place Marquette by three shots.  Mike Van Sickle of Marquette leads the field of individuals with a six-under-par score of 66.

 

Monday’s round of 18 holes tees off at 7 a.m. (CST).
