Golf in Fourth Place After Round Two of BIG EAST Championship



First and Second Round Results

 

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The DePaul golf team holds fourth place in the team standings following round two of the 2007 BIG EAST Championship.  Freshman Greg Doherty sits three shots off the lead entering Tuesday’s final round at the Cardinal Club.

 

Doherty posted a par round of 72 on Monday to follow Sunday’s opening round score of 70.  He rests two strokes under par and shares fifth place with Mike Van Sickle of Marquette

 

Sophomore Cory Blenkush carded a second round 73 after shooting 71 on Sunday.  He sits in a four-way tie for eighth place with an even-par total of 144.

 

Juniors Will Cumberland and Matthew McMahon each carry a total score of 151 through 36-holes.  The duo shares 26th place with three other golfers.  Sophomore Nick Martin is tied for 54th with a two-round score of 158.

 

The Blue Demons hold a combined score of 585 while Louisville leads the team standings with a total of 562.  DePaul trails third-place Marquette by one stroke and second-place Notre Dame by seven strokes.  Louisville’s Daryl Fathauer tops the individual standings with a score of 139.

 

Tuesday’s final round of 18 holes tees off at 7 a.m. (CST).
