Doherty and Martin Advance in U.S. Open Qualifying
CHICAGO DePaul golf team members Nick Martin and Greg Doherty, along with volunteer assistant Tim Hamm, advanced to the Sectional Qualifying Round for the 2009 U.S. Open on Monday. The threesome played in the Local Qualifying Round at Schaumburg GC in Schaumburg, Ill. and will play at Stonewall Orchard GC in Grayslake, Ill. on Monday, June 8 in the Sectional Qualifying Round. Martin fired a 68 at Schaumburg GC while Doherty and Hamm each carded a round of 72. The pair of 72’s put Doherty and Hamm into a tiebreaker that each advanced in a playoff. The 36 holes of stroke play will take place on June 8 at Stonewall Orchard GC for the Sectional Qualifying Round. The qualifiers from the Sectional sites advance to the U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park (Black Course) in Farmingdale, N.Y., from June 15-21, 2009.
