Westley finished atop the leaderboard with a 66 (-5) after shooting a 33 on both the front and back nine. He was a stroke ahead of two players in second place at Wild Marsh GC in Buffalo, Minn.
“Ben was medalist and his scores, golf management and game continue to improve,” said head coach Betty Kaufmann. “It is nice to see his game getting stronger and him scoring the way he is capable.”
The Minnesota Players Championship is one of the state’s top amateur events. The match play-style tournament starts June 20 at Deacon's Lodge GC in Pequot Lakes, Minn.
As a junior, Westley led the Blue Demons during the 2010-11 season with a 74.57 scoring average and six top 25 finishes. He put together his best finish of the season with a tie for 10th at the BIG EAST Championship.
