CHICAGO – DePaul golf coach Betty Kaufmann announced today that Jan Jeulicher, Alex Lloyd and Brad Peterson have joined the program. Jeulicher is a native of Germany while Lloyd is from Arizona and Peterson is a Chicagoland native.
Juelicher heads to Chicago from Augsburg, Germany and joins fellow Germans Moritz Ackerhans and Maximilian Mayer. Juelicher attended the Peutinger-Gymnasium School.
“Jan is a solid player that will add depth and experience to the team,” said Kaufmann. “He has competed in many German and international events.”
Lloyd takes his golf game to the Midwest from Scottsdale, Ariz. He spent last season as a student at Arizona State and was a member of three state championship teams at Chaparral High School.
“In addition to his high school success, Alex has also had great success in many Southwest section events,” said Kaufmann. “Alex is another solid player that will add depth to the team.”
Peterson joins his brother Erik on the DePaul golf squad. Erik will be a senior in 2011-12 with both attending Fremd High School in Palatine, Ill.
“Brad has had great success through his high school career at the local, regional and state level,” said Kaufmann. “He has a solid short game and good length off the tee.”
The three newcomers join eight returners from last season when the Blue Demons open the 2011-12 campaign on Sept. 19 at the Adam’s Cup of Newport in Rhode Island. DePaul returns its top three players from last season led by Ben Westley. Westley led the Blue Demons a year ago as a junior with a 74.57 scoring average. He was followed by Ackerhans posting an average of 76.00 and Mayer with a 76.20 average.
