July 19, 2017

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s golf team was honored for the ninth straight year by the Golf Coaches Association of America with the All-Academic Team award. The Blue Demons were recognized for a cumulative team grade point average above 3.0.

The Blue Demons were one of 121 Division I programs with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher to earn the honor. Georgia State (Division I), St. Edward’s (Division II), Kalamazoo (Division III), Governors State (NAIA), Central Alabama (NJCAA DI) and Mineral Area College (NJCAA DII) have been named Academic National Champions for their respective divisions.

Georgia State posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.85. A total of 187 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition from all divisions.

Since the GCAA poll began in 2009, the Blue Demons have etched academic honors every year. DePaul was crowned the Division I academic national champions in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 and was awarded the President's Special Recognition award in 2013 for having a team GPA over 3.5. In 2009, 2015, 2016 and 2017, DePaul earned All-Academic Team honors.

To be eligible for the GCAA All-Academic Team, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
