GCAA Announces 2013 Team Academic Awards

CHICAGO - The DePaul golf team was recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of American on Wednesday for having a cumulative team GPA above a 3.5. The Blue Demons recorded a team GPA of 3.724 for the 2012-13 season and are the only program from the BIG EAST Conference to receive the President's Special Recognition.

Brown posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.74. A total of 143 teams from Division I, II, II, NAIA, NJCAA DI and NJCAA DII combined for a team GPA of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition - a new high in the five years of the award.

DePaul was joined on the DI President's Special Recognition list by Brown, Harvard, Kennesaw State, Richmond, Stanford, Utah Valley State, Valparaiso, William & Mary and Yale.

Since the poll began in 2009, the Blue Demons have earned the GCAA team academic honors each year.  DePaul was crowned the Division I team academic champion in 2010, 2011 and 2012, while it was named an All-Academic team in 2009.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college of university must submit the grade points earned and hours attempted for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
