CHICAGO – The DePaul golf team opens its 2012-13 season at the first annual Ram Masters Invitational at Fort Collins Country Club, Sept. 17-18 in Colorado. The 54-hole tournament will be played in threesomes with the teams playing 36-holes in a shotgun start beginning at 7 a.m. (CT) on Monday, Sept. 17. The final 18-holes will be played on Tuesday beginning at 7 a.m.    

The tournament is hosted by Colorado State and is played on a par 70, 7,121 yard course.  The course was founded in 1959 and is one the highest rated golf courses in northern Colorado.  

During the two-day tournament, the Blue Demons will square off with student-athletes from Air Force, Boise State, Denver, Drake, Illinois State, Mercer, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, Southern Utah, Weber State, Wichita State, Wyoming and host Colorado State.

The Blue Demons will look to their upperclassman -- Moritz Ackerhans, Russell Budd, John Pavelko and Mark Sanchez and Brad Stephens for leadership this season.  

Ackerhans leads the returners with a 75.28 scoring average from a year-ago while Budd followed with his 75.48 stroke average.

DePaul welcomes freshmen -- Adrian Halimi and Moritz Hausweiler to its roster which is led by head coach Betty Kaufmann, who is in her 15th season at the helm of the Blue Demon golf program.
