CHICAGO - The DePaul golf team tees off the 2013-14 campaign in Lake Forest, Ill. when it travel to The Knollwood Club for the 17th annual Windon Memorial Classic, Sept. 22-23, hosted by Northwestern. The Blue Demons will be one of 16 teams to play 36 holes Sunday before the final 18 holes on Monday morning. Live scoring will be provided for this event.
DePaul will be joined on the links by Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, Harvard, Iowa, Kent State, Lamar, Marquette, Michigan, North Texas, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Tulsa and UC Davis.
Last season, DePaul finished a shot behind Eastern Michigan claiming 13th place. The Blue Demons were led by Russell Budd who carded a 232 (+19) and tied for 50th place. Returning golfers Moritz Ackerhans and Adrian Halimi totaled 236 and 242, respectively.
Located on 240 rolling acres in Lake Forest, Ill., and designed by J.S. Colt and C.H. Alison in 1924, The Knollwood Club has hosted both the USGA's Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships and is hosting the Windon Memorial for the first time since 2000 when Hunter Mahan won the individual title.
The Windon has an illustrious history, with current PGA TOUR members Luke Donald, Joe Ogilvie, Tiger Woods, Gary Woodland and Ben Curtis finishing as runners-up in the event. Donald and PGA TOUR members Mahan and Colt Knost are past champions.
Following the Windon, the Blue Demons host the John Dallio Memorial at Ruffled Feathers Country Club Sept. 28-29. This par 72 course is located in Lemont, Ill.
