Blue Demons Host John Dallio Memorial

CHICAGO - The DePaul golf team hosts its annual John Dallio Memorial this weekend at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club. Ruffled Feathers is the home of DePaul golf and is located in Lemont, Ill. The three-round, two-day tournament is scheduled for 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Ruffled Feathers features a par 72 layout of 6,898 yards. In addition to serving as the competition site for the John Dallio Memorial, the DePaul golf team also has an exclusive practice facility at the course. DePaul's lineup for the second event of the season is Russell Budd, Charles Boucher, Ben Westley, Maximilian Mayer and John Pavelko. Erik Peterson, Mark Sanchez, Brad Stephens and Mike Tuel will also compete as individuals over the next two days. Greg Doherty birdied three of his last four holes to come from behind and win the individual title while leading the Blue Demons to the 2009 team crown. Doherty fired a three-round total of 217 to finish a stroke ahead of teammate Charles Boucher while the Blue Demons posted a a team total of 880 (+16) to finish 18 strokes ahead of second-place Detroit. The 2010 Dallio Memorial field includes Bradley, Detroit, Eastern Illinois, Florida Gulf Coast, IUPUI, Loyola-Chicago, Northern Iowa, Oakland, USF, Southern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville and Western Illinois joining the host Blue Demons. The annual event is named after for DePaul golfer John Dallio who lost his courageous battle with glioblastoma, a deadly brain tumor on Oct. 6, 2003. A member of the Blue Demons from 1997-2001, Dallio earned a degree from DePaul in finance and worked in the Blue Demon athletics department for two years.
