DePaul Hosts John Dallio Memorial at Ruffled Feathers
CHICAGO - The Blue Demons host the John Dallio Memorial at Ruffled Feathers GC on Sunday and Monday. The three-round event features two rounds on Sunday followed by 18 holes on Monday. A shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. begins the action Sunday followed by a 7 a.m. start on the first and 10th tees on Monday for the third and final round.
Joining the Blue Demons at their home course in Lemont, Ill. are: Bradley, Dayton, Detroit, Drake, Eastern Illinois, George Washington, Georgetown, Loyola-Chicago, Loyola (Md.), Northern Iowa, Nova Southeastern, USF, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois and Wright State. Live scoring will be available for the tournament at www.golfstat.com. DePaul's lineup for this week's action is Greg Doherty, Michael Furci, Charles Boucher, Russell Budd and Ben Westley. Charlie Harris, John Pavelko, Erik Peterson and Brad Stephens will by playing Ruffled Feathers as individuals. Ruffled Feathers is a par-72, 6,898-yard course that also features an exclusive practice facility for the Blue Demons. 2008 Dallio Recap: A year ago, Southern Illinois edged Nova Southeastern in tie-breaker to win the team title while Georgetown's Brian Dorfman won individual honors. DePaul placed sixth in the team standings with Greg Doherty holding the top finish for the Blue Demons in a tie for eighth. The top three finishers from the 2008 edition are back this weekend as Dorfman won medalist honors with a three-round total of 209 (69-70-70). Britt Pronk of Detroit took second at 211 and teammate David Byrne was third at 214. Remembering John Dallio (1978-2003): Former DePaul golfer John Dallio lost his courageous battle with glioblastoma, a deadly brain tumor on Oct. 6, 2003. A member of the Blue Demons from 1997-2001, John earned a degree from DePaul in Finance and worked in the Blue Demon athletic department for two years. The annual DePaul golf invitational is dedicated in John's honor. The Fall Schedule: The John Dallio Memorial is the second of five events on the fall schedule. DePaul was eighth of 17 teams at the Adams Cup of Newport, Sept. 21-22. The Blue Demons play in three more events during the fall portion of the 2009-10 schedule. DePaul travels to Cincinnati for the Xavier Invitational, Oct. 5-6, before the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Oct. 19-20. The BIG EAST Match Play in Southern Pines, N.C. concludes the fall schedule, Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
