CHICAGO – The DePaul golf team returns to its home course this weekend for the 10th annual John Dallio Memorial at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club. The Blue Demons welcome 10 teams to Lemont, Ill. for a three-round, two-day event.
Ruffled Feathers features a par-72, 6,898-yard layout and is the home of DePaul golf with an exclusive practice facility for the Blue Demons.
Joining DePaul at Ruffled Feathers on Saturday and Sunday are Chicago State, Eastern Illinois, Green Bay, IUPUI, Loyola, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Seton Hall, SIUE and Valparaiso.
Two rounds are scheduled to tee-off for Saturday starting at 7:15 a.m. followed by Sunday’s final 18 holes with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Moritz Ackerhans leads the Blue Demons with a 74 scoring average, and led DePaul by tying for 29th place at the Windon Memorial to open the season. Adrian Halimi follows with a 76.67 scoring average, while Jonathan Hewitt is third with his average round of 77.
Marquette, which is not in this year’s tournament field, won the 2012 Dallio Memorial. DePaul took home second place, finishing just five strokes behind the Golden Eagles. Ackerhans led the team finishing ninth, while Halimi finished 71st.
John Dallio Memorial History: The annual event is named after former DePaul golfer John Dallio, who lost his courageous battle with glioblastoma, a deadly brain tumor, on Oct. 6, 2003. A member of the Blue Demons from 1997-2001, Dallio earned a degree from DePaul in finance and worked in the Blue Demon athletics department for two years.
