CHICAGO--The DePaul golf team is set to compete at the Louisville Cardinal Challenge starting Friday at the UofL Golf Club in Simpsonville, Ky. The Blue Demons are part of a 13-team field that is set to play a three-round, three-day event hosted by Louisville.

DePaul joins host Louisville along with competitors from East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Miami (Ohio), Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin and Winthrop. The course features a 7,192-yard layout with a par 72.

Each round of 18 will feature a 9 a.m. ET shotgun start. Pairings for rounds two and three are determined by the standings from the previous round. Live stats for the tournament can be followed on Golfstat.

The Blue Demons are coming off of a fifth-place finish at the NKU Fall Classic last weekend. Newcomer Joe McCarthy led the way for DePaul, finishing in a tie for seventh individually with a tournament total of 218 strokes (+5). Freddy Thomas and Bobby Thomas followed McCarthy tied for 12th and 24th.

After competing at the Cardinal Challenge, the Blue Demons will travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Fighting Irish Classic on Oct. 8-9.
