Doherty Tied for Second Place after Day One of John Dallio Memorial
LEMONT, Ill. The DePaul men’s golf team rests in sixth place following Monday’s first and second rounds of the John Dallio Memorial Tournament. Sophomore Greg Doherty paces the Blue Demons through 36 holes and holds a tie for second place entering Tuesday’s final round at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club. After opening the tournament with a first round of 74, Doherty carded a three-under-par score of 69 in the second round. His two-round total of 143 places him one shot off the lead and in a tie with Mark Sommerfeld of Detroit. Senior Will Cumberland posted a 36-hole score of 149 and shares a tie for 17th place with four golfers. Senior Matthew McMahon follows in a five-way tie for 33rd place after carding a two-round score of 152. Junior Cory Blenkush notched a score of 155 and shares 48th place with five golfers, while senior Michael Gammon sits in a three-way tie for 60th place with a score of 159. Junior Nick Martin competed as an individual and holds a tie for 14th place with a two-round score of 147. Northern Iowa tops the field of 13 teams with a combined score of 581, while Detroit Mercy rests in second place with a score of 588. The Blue Demons posted a total of 597 to trail fifth-place Loyola-Chicago by two strokes. Northern Iowa’s Jordan Weber leads all 75 individuals with a two-under-par score of 142. DePaul’s annual tournament concludes on Tuesday with 18 holes. The third and final round tees off at 7:20 a.m. (CST).
