D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate On Deck for DePaul

CHICAGO - The Blue Demons play the first of three October events this weekend at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. The three-round, two-day tournament is scheduled for 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. A shotgun start will start the action each day with an 8:30 a.m. start on Saturday and an 8:45 a.m. start for Sunday's final 18 holes.
The Weibring Golf Club is located on the campus of Illinois State University and features a par 71 layout of 6,915 yards. The 2010 field includes Akron, Bradley, DePaul, Creighton, Detroit, Drake, Illinois, Iowa State, Louisville, Loyola, Missouri State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville and Western Illinois joining host Illinois State.
DePaul's lineup for this weekend includes Russell Budd, Ben Westley, Charles Boucher, Maximilian Mayer and Brad Stephens.
Noting the Blue Demons: Sophomore Russell Budd leads the team with a 73.50 scoring average... he is followed by Ben Westley 74.50 and Charles Boucher at 74.83... Boucher is the lone senior on the roster... six of the nine members of the roster are either freshmen or sophomores... Budd's score of 70 in the first round of the Cardinal Collegiate is the low score of the season... he also held the best round of the season a year ago with a 67 in the first round of the Xavier Invitational... Budd has recorded four career rounds of 70 or better in 13 career events... Budd has two top 25 finishes in two tournaments this season... Boucher and Westley have each recorded one top 25 finish.
Fall Review: Cardinal Collegiate (Sept. 20-21) - DePaul opened the season with a 12th-place finish... Russell Budd was the top finisher in a group in 12th place... he posted a tournament total of 216 (E)... Budd opened the tournament with a two-under 70. John Dallio Memorial (Sept. 25-26) - The Blue Demons finished eighth at Ruffled Feathers GC... Russell Budd (t12th), Ben Westley (t14th) and Charles Boucher (t17th) each finished in the top 20.
Looking Ahead: DePaul plays in three October events to conclude the fall schedule starting at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. That tournament is hosted by Illinois State on Oct. 2-3. Following the Weibring, DePaul heads to the nation's capital for the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Oct. 18-19, and concludes the autumn swing in Simi Valley, Calif., on Oct. 25-26 at the Bill Cullum Invitational.
