Golf Enters Windon Memorial Classic

CHICAGO The DePaul men’s golf team continues its fall season this coming week at the Windon Memorial Golf Classic in Glencoe, Illinois.  Northwestern’s 54-hole tournament runs Sunday and Monday at the Lake Shore Country Club in Glencoe, Illinois.

The Blue Demons join twelve teams for two rounds on Sunday and the final 18 holes on Monday.  Sunday’s tee times start at 7:30 a.m. and Monday’s action begins at 8 a.m.

In addition to DePaul, the field of competition includes Indiana, Kansas, Kent State, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, SMU and BIG EAST rival Marquette.  The October 3 Golfweek/Sagarin rankings placed Indiana at No. 23, Minnesota at No. 35 and Michigan at No. 47.

The Lake Shore Country Club features a par-71 course measuring 6,519 yards.  The 2006 Windon Memorial title went to SMU, while the Mustangs’ Colt Knost took the individual medal.

DePaul enters the Windon Memorial after hosting the John Dallio Memorial earlier this week at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.  Sophomore Greg Doherty earned a tie for 16th in the individual standings, while the Blue Demons finished sixth out of 13 teams.  Junior Cory Blenkush holds a team-best stroke average through the season’s first two tournaments at 73.8 shots per round.
