Martin Paces Golf Team at Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Nick Martin is tied for 24th place overall and the Blue Demons are in 14th in the team standings after the first two rounds of the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic on Monday at Notre Dame’s Warren Course.
Martin, a senior from Winnetka, Ill., shot rounds of 76 and 72 to finish at 148 and is tied for 24th place in the individual standings. Classmate Cory Blenkush carded rounds of 76 and 75 (151) and is tied for 38th with teammate Greg Doherty who shot 79-72. Michael Furci is tied for 65th after shooting 79-77 (156) while Ben Westley is alone in 82nd with rounds of 88-77.
The Blue Demons are alone in 14th place at 606, one shot behind North Carolina-Greensboro. Minnesota leads the team standings at 579.
The final 18 holes of competition will take place tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. (CST).
