Golf Finishes 11th at Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic
NOTRE DAME, Ind. DePaul improved three spots in the team standings and Nick Martin finished in the top 20 after the final round of the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic on Tuesday at Notre Dame’s Warren Course. The Blue Demons began the day in 14th place but jumped three spots to 11th after the final 18 holes, finishing at 900, one shot out of the top 10 behind San Francisco. Arkansas won the team title at 863. Individually, Nick Martin finished tied for 20th after shooting a final round 73. The senior from Winnetka, Ill. concluded the tournament at 221 (76-72-73). Cory Blenkush and Greg Doherty tied for 34th at 225. Blenkush carded rounds of 76-75-74 while Doherty shot 79-72-74. Michael Furci had a final round 73 and finished tied for 50th at 229 (79-77-73) while Ben Westley tied for 82nd at 244 (88-77-79). The Blue Demons return to action on October 20-21 when they travel to the Georgetown Intercollegiate at the Members Club at Four Stream in Beallsville, Md.
