Golf Continues Season at Georgetown Intercollegiate
CHICAGO The DePaul men’s golf team continues its fall campaign this week at the 23rd annual Georgetown Intercollegiate. The three-round tournament runs Monday and Tuesday at the Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland. The Blue Demons join 11 teams for two rounds on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday, with each day’s action beginning at 7 a.m. (CST). The field of competition features BIG EAST Conference rivals Georgetown, St. John’s and Villanova in addition to squads from Detroit-Mercy, George Mason, Idaho, James Madison, Richmond, St. Joseph’s, Towson and William and Mary. The Members Club at Four Streams boasts a par-71, 6,718-yard course designed by Nick Price and Steve Smyers. The 2006 Georgetown Intercollegiate saw the Blue Demons take eighth place with a combined score of 614, while the Hoyas won the team title with a score of 600. DePaul most recently competed at Northwestern’s Windon Memorial Classic on October 7-8. Senior Matthew McMahon paced the Blue Demons at the Lake Shore Country Club as he tied for 10th place with a 54-hole score of 212. Junior Cory Blenkush followed in 16th place with a three-round score of 215. Blenkush leads the Blue Demons in stroke average through the season’s first three tournaments with 73.1 shots per round.
